This is very surprising, but the Federal government re-launched the Canada Summer Jobs Program a couple of days ago, just in the middle of the holiday season probably to make a holiday gift for all of us I guess 🙂 Usually this program is launched in January-February.

Anyway, Canada Summer Jobs subsidizes hiring students aged 15-30 for the upcoming summer time in 2017. Both non-profit and for-profit organizations are eligible. Other important factors you should know:
  • For-profit applicants must have less than 50 full-time equivalent employees to qualify;
  • All industries are eligible, including but not limited to professional services, retail, technology and manufacturing;
  • Eligible employment period is April 17, 2017 to August 26, 2017;
  • Maximum amount of the funding is 50% of the province’s minimum wage for each hour the summer student worked for you (100% for non-profit sector). For example,
    • in Ontario it is $5.70 per hour,
    • in Quebec it is $5.35,
    • in British Columbia it is $5.42,
    • in Alberta it is $6.10, etc
  • You are encouraged to keep the students employed after the completion of the program, but it is not mandatory;
  • Application deadline is January 20, 2017!
So, act now as there’s not too much time left. A $100 deductible deposit and fair commission apply.
To get started, send us the descriptions of the jobs you need the students for and the number of students you need per each job title and we will guide you through next steps.

Sincerely,

Igor Chigrin
