Emergency Wage Subsidy Intake Starts on April 27

Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy that provides 75% of the payroll will open its doors on Monday, April 27, 2020. Key features and eligibility criteria:

  • a subsidy of 75% of employee wages for up to 12 weeks
  • a maximum of $847 per eligible employee per week
  • retroactive from March 15, 2020, to June 6, 2020
  • to qualify you must demonstrate the drop in revenue by at least 15% in March 2020 and 30% in April and May 2020 compared to either similar months of 2019 or the average of January and February 2020.

Do you qualify for Emergency Interest-Free Loan?

This week the Federally funded Canada Emergency Business Account (CEBA) interest-free loan started accepting applications. Key features and eligibility criteria:

  • interest-free loans of up to $40,000.
  • loan forgiveness of 25 percent (up to $10,000) if the balance is repaid by December 31, 2022.
  • to qualify your total employment income paid in the 2019 calendar year must be between $50,000 and $1,000,000.

Do you qualify for Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy?

This week the Federal government announced the details of the Canada Emergency Wage Subsidy.

The key eligible criteria is you revenue in March, April and May 2020 compared to the same months of 2019. If the revenue dropped by 30% or more due to COVID crisis and its economic consequences, your business or organization is eligible.

The amount of the wage subsidy equals 75% of the remuneration up to $847 per week per employee.

How to Apply?¬ Applicants will need to re-apply monthly. Application forms will be available on CRA website,¬ My Business Account section. If you don’t have the business account with CRA, it is time to create it as soon as possible. We expect the application forms will be available next week.
