We’re happy to share with you that Ontario brick-and-mortar businesses can now access funding to boost their digital transformation through the Retail Modernization Project Grant (RMPG), an initiative under the Digitalization Competence Centre (DCC).

Eligible applicants may receive 50% of project costs covered, up to $5 K in grant funding for approved purchases of effective digital equipment and software that help them transform and grow.

Eligible applicants must be Direct-to-Consumer businesses with a physical location (i.e., retail, restaurants & food, professional services such as hairstyling, florists, manufacturers and bakeries with storefronts, etc.)

Eligibility requirements

  • Be federally or provincially incorporated with a valid Business Number
  • Be a for-profit, privately owned business
  • Have been operating for at least one year
  • Employ 1-50 full-time employees
  • Have a consumer-facing, physical retail location in Ontario
  • Earned at least $100 K in annual revenue in one of the past three tax years
  • Have not received other Federal/Provincial funding for the same technology expenses
  • Demonstrate interest and capacity to adopt and sustain new technologies

  • Point of sale hardware and mobile POS
  • CRM and accounting software
  • Inventory management and digital storage
  • AI customer interaction systems
  • RFID, IoT, and self-checkout kiosks
  • Video-based loss prevention and digital shelf labels
  • Scheduling and labour management tools
  • Installation and setup of new technology
