Wage Subsidies for Hiring Post-Secondary Students

We’re excited to inform you that Canadian businesses and non-profit organizations can now apply for the Career Ready Program, Federal wage subsidy delivered by TECHNATION. The program helps offset the cost of hiring post-secondary students in tech-related roles.

Eligibility requirements

To be eligible, employers must:

• Be a registered Canadian business or non-profit organization.
• Offer a meaningful, tech-focused work placement to a post-secondary student.
• Be hiring for a role that immerses the student in technology, even if the student is not studying a tech-related field.

Please note:

• Large financial institutions, municipalities, and post-secondary institutions are not eligible.

To be eligible, students must:

• Be enrolled in an accredited Canadian post-secondary institution.
• Be Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or individuals with refugee status (international students are not eligible).
• Work in a role that is immersive in technology, regardless of their field of study.

Funding

The program provides 50% (to a maximum of $5K) of a student’s pay in wage subsidies to employers.

An increased subsidy of 70% (to a maximum of $7K) is awarded to employers hiring students from under-represented groups.

Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Early submission is encouraged to secure funding for the desired placement term.
