We’re excited to inform you that the Ontario Job Grant (OJG) has relaunched on May 4, and applications are now open. The program helps employers train new hires and upskill existing employees by covering a significant portion of training costs.
The grant supports eligible training costs up to $10 K per trainee, with additional flexibility for small employers (up to $15 K per previously unemployed trainee).
Eligibility requirements
To qualify, employers must:
• Be a for-profit business (any size) or an eligible non-profit
• Have a job vacancy and identified a candidate or employee, and use training to fill a role
OR
• Use training to upgrade the skills of current employees
• Ensure trainees are eligible to work in Canada
Eligible costs
The program covers third-party training costs, including:
• Tuition and training fees
• Books and materials
• Examination and certification fees
Training must be delivered by an external provider and result in a certificate or credential.
The maximum number of trainees per application is 25. Applicants with more than 100 employees receive 50% reimbursement of training costs. Smaller employers receive 83% reimbursement.
The Ontario Job Grant is a strong opportunity for companies planning to hire, train, or upskill their workforce while reducing costs.
As the program is now open and accepts applications on an ongoing basis, it’s a good time to align your training plans and prepare your application.
