Canada-British Columbia Job Grant (Canada-B.C. Job Grant)

Amount: up to $15,000 per trainee

The Canada-B.C. Job Grant is an employer-driven, cost-sharing program that helps employers invest in training for their current or future employees

Eligibility Criteria: Canada-British Columbia Job Grant (Canada-B.C. Job Grant)

Eligible employers or organizations acting on behalf of employers can apply to four streams of funding:

  1. Priority Sectors

The CJG is open to applications from employers or organizations working in eligible priority sectors, including most BC Jobs Plan priority sectors, identified as critical to B.C.’s labour market and economic development.   1. Unemployed Stream

The Unemployed Stream is open to applications from employers and organizations who are hiring unemployed British Columbians, covering up to 100% of the costs of training where there is permanent employment at the end of training.

  1. Underrepresented Groups in the Workforce

The CJG is open to applications from employers or organizations wishing to provide skills training and jobs to individuals in one of the eligible underrepresented groups.

  1. Refugee Fund

The CJG is open to applications from industry/sector associations, employer associations, and union and non-profit organizations working with refugees, who are working with employers to help refugees gain skills and employment in B.C. Employers must contribute one-third of the cost of job-specific skills training and have a job at the end of the training for the participant.

  1. Rural Stream

The Rural Stream is open for applications from eligible employers in all sectors or organizations, where the jobs are located in rural communities.

  • Tuition fees or instructional fees charged by the training provider
  • Mandatory student fees
  • Examination fees
  • Textbooks and software
  • Other required materials and supplies directly related to the training course
